Madagascar joins the Flying Labs network
Information from WeRobotics
Malagasy company AerialMetric is leading Madagascar Flying Labs, which joins the larger network of local knowledge hubs in Africa, Asia and Latin America to build on existing expertise in drones, data and AI.
The company started by offering drone survey and mapping services, and its staff has expertise in photogrammetry and GIS. Over the past half-decade, the company has focused its efforts on developing drone-based delivery solutions for emergency relief and health system strengthening, such as transporting essential medicines like Polio vaccines to over 30 health facilities in the most hard-to-access region of the country.
The team offers training services and lends out its drones for training purposes and flight demonstrations. They are also interested to get involved in nature conservation and youth/STEM education. As a 100% Malagasy organisation, they contribute directly and indirectly to Madagascar’s economic development by designing, assembling, testing, and repairing all their drones locally in Madagascar.
